The Governance Board is the ultimate authority of the organization which sets the policies, procedures, values, and long-term planning to meet the mission of the organization. The board does this through a governance structure or model. The board decides to implement not only the policies of the organization but also such things as the relationship between staff and the board, and the role and use of committees. The multi-level policies have been developed in order to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization with integrity and transparency, which is frequently reviewed and updated by the board of governance and respective councils and committees.
