Please tell us about yourself and your family.
I am a professional with 14 years of soft skills experience in monitoring and evaluation functionality, project management, online data collection, research, and focus group moderating. I have been a team leader to 40 enumerators from different environments and cultures, conducted more than 25,000 interviewers by using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) and KAPI systems in all of Yemen’s government consisting of people with different backgrounds and cultures. Presently, I am working as a Programme Associate at UNWFP.
I am a happily married man and have two sons and two daughters. I live with my wife and children in our house in Sana'a City.
My interests are reading and working on books. In addition, I also love to learn new skills. I am currently interested in exploring the field of Business Administration.
What drew you to the program you are studying at Athena? Do you think it will help you to realise your career goals?
I was looking for a good university with a flexible education system where I could obtain a Master’s degree. Furthermore, I wanted to enhance my skills, broaden my knowledge, and grow more in what I do. Hence, I enrolled in this program.
The courses have been more than just expectations. I am glad to get admitted to UniAthena. I will also be one of your alumni who is fully prepared to go and face the world.
What would you like to learn next? What are your next career steps?
I will, of course, go to the field to ensure that I put into practice what I have acquired at UniAthena. It is said ‘knowledge acquired is best practised when applied’.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Basically, you can say that I enjoy being outside with my family when I am not working. My kids are still small, and once I come back from work, I do not want to say that I do not enjoy my time with them–quite the contrary, it’s great. But it’s not really leisure time. Anyway, that’s life, I enjoy my role as a father, and so far, I have managed to do a good job both as an employee and a family man. I hope to continue in the same vein during my current study.
Suppose you had to live alone on a deserted island for a month. What are the 3 things you will bring with you?
If you face a problem at work, what is the first thing you do?
Overall, I adopt the following approach when faced with a problem:
If you could only change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Nothing, because I love myself and accept who I am, and I don't need anyone's negative vibes around me.
What did you want to become when you were a child?
When I was a child, I was fascinated with flying a plane. I used to admire pilots so much that I wanted to be a pilot.
What is the last book you read and the movie you saw?
The last book I read was "Who Moved My Cheese? An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life" by Spencer Johnson.
Who is the person you admire most and why?
I admire my father most. He is the key person in our family who holds it together.
He is the hero in my life. My father is truly an admirable person with outstanding qualities.
