Tell us about yourself and what made you choose your program at UniAthena? How do you think it will help you in your future career?
My name is Wint Yee Thet Naung. I am originally from Myanmar and have recently relocated to Dubai to explore new career opportunities. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and have over seven years of experience working in trading and industrial business. Over the years, I have taken on diverse responsibilities—from logistics and procurement to project coordination and financial management—eventually rising to the role of Assistant General Manager.
I chose the MBA in Operations and Project Management at UniAthena because I want to strengthen my management foundation with an international perspective. The flexible online structure of UniAthena suits my current lifestyle and career shift. I believe this MBA will enhance my ability to lead complex projects, manage cross-functional teams, and apply modern strategies to solve real-world operational challenges.
What are you most excited to learn or explore next in your studies?
I am particularly excited to explore modules related to process improvement, strategic operations, and agile project management. I look forward to applying theoretical frameworks to practical case studies, which will help bridge my past experience with global business standards.
Could you outline what career goals you have in mind after completing your current academic journey?
After completing my MBA, I aim to secure a management role in a multinational company in the UAE or another global business hub. My long-term goal is to become a senior operations or project director, leading high-impact initiatives. I also plan to leverage my experience to consult for or support businesses in emerging markets like Myanmar in the future.
How are you managing your studies along with work and your personal life?
Since I’ve recently relocated and am actively job hunting, I’ve structured my time carefully. I dedicate my early mornings and evenings to study and use tools like Trello and Google Calendar to keep my schedule organized. The flexibility of UniAthena’s platform allows me to set my own pace without compromising the quality of my learning.
Share a specific example of a challenging goal you set for yourself and successfully accomplished. What did you learn from this experience?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was leading a project for HDPE lining installation covering over 500,000 sqm. Coordinating with overseas suppliers, managing a local workforce, and ensuring timely delivery was demanding. I learned the importance of communication, contingency planning, and trust in leadership.
From your experiences so far, what personal qualities do you think are important for achieving success?
I believe adaptability, accountability, and resilience are key. In a fast-changing business world, staying flexible while remaining true to one’s values is what builds lasting success.
Tell us about a time when you stepped outside your comfort zone to take on a leadership role. What was the outcome?
In 2022, our General Manager had to take extended leave, and I was asked to temporarily lead the team. At first, I doubted my ability to manage on my own. But over time, I built the team’s confidence, successfully delivered client projects, and proved to myself that I could lead with integrity and deliver results.
If you could recommend one book that you believe everyone should read, what would it be and why?
I would recommend Holes by Louis Sachar. Although it’s often categorized as a children’s or young adult novel, the story holds powerful messages for readers of all ages. It explores themes of justice, personal growth, family legacy, and resilience in the face of unfair systems. What I love most about the book is how all the storylines—past and present—interconnect so meaningfully. It reminds me that our actions, even the small ones, can shape our future and that change is always possible when we stay strong and kind. It's a book that left a lasting impression on me, and I believe everyone can learn something valuable from it.
What is your dream job and what motivates you about it?
My dream job is to become a Global Operations or Project Management consultant. I am deeply motivated by the idea of solving complex challenges, improving systems, and making businesses more efficient and impactful—especially in developing regions.
What advice would you offer to professionals who are just starting their careers based on your own experiences?
Stay curious and be willing to take on roles that stretch your skills. Titles don’t matter as much as the experience you gain. Learn from every mistake, treat people well, and never stop developing yourself. The more you give, the more you grow.
