What drew you to the programme you are studying at uniAthena? Do you think it would help you realise your career goals?
I am a self-employed individual, and I often find it challenging to manage and grow the business that I am involved in. I tried to leverage knowledge and advice by listening to business leaders and their advice in person, on YouTube, and other social media platforms. Following that, I reasoned, "Why not own the knowledge and learn the principles underlying this advice and knowledge by progressing and pursuing higher education?"
I did some research on MBA programs, and there are many out there because I am running a business and need to constantly devote time to day-to-day decision making. Therefore, I decided that a flexible learning MBA programme would be more suitable for me, one that does not require me to attend classes rigidly and gives me the flexibility to work on my assignments and research, which will be most ideal for my day-to-day work. That is why I finally decided to bank on UniAthena.
What would you like to learn next? What are your next career steps?
The world is rapidly changing-faster than it was 10 years ago. We need to stay current and keep up with emerging technologies, such as alternative energy, artificial intelligence, data science, and much more. In order to get equipped with business management skills, I intend to learn about managing businesses and people, how to grow a sustainable business, increasing the value of a business venture, and contributing to the community. Additionally, I aspire to develop a forward thinking outlook on how to manage and balance the financial health of the organization. Learn more about a business's ability to adapt and transform quickly with the rapidly changing world and yet stay sustainable.

What’s your dream job?
My dream job is to own and run a multi-billion dollar company in the healthcare industry that can improve the quality of life for patients with chronic health issues.
If you face a problem at work, what is the first thing you do?
I begin by listening to the problem expressed by colleagues, highlighting the problem, thinking through the problem, understanding the root cause of the problem, talking to peers, close friends, or family, and exploring all possibilities to resolve the problem. I intend to identify the most viable possibilities, make plans on how to resolve the problem therein, and take actions.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your life? How did you tackle it?
The biggest challenge in life is managing people’s expectations. It can be a family member, colleague, friend, peer, or customer. Expectations are subjective, and people strive for empathy, trust, and faith, which often take time to build. We need to manage these expectations and work out a way to meet them where there is a win-win scenario for everyone. To address the issue of expectations, we must send a clear message without sugarcoating, overselling, or overcommitting. We need to emphasise the message clearly and get the person to acknowledge and affirm that they understand what they are getting, how they will get it, when they will get it, and who will benefit.
If you could only change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
One thing I could change would be a higher level of foresightedness.
What is the last book you read and the last movie you saw?
The last book I read was Defining Moments by David Chan. The last movie I watched was Forrest Gump on Netflix.
Which movie/book motivates you?
Forrest Gump movie – He is a man of simplistic thoughts, but his simple mindedness is a blessing in disguise. Sometimes, it is best to live simply, keep a clear conscience, and be inclined to learn new skills and knowledge. This may turn out to be something that will bless you in return.
Mention one important lesson you have learned in life that made you what you are today.
The most valuable lesson I learned in life lies in the word "Grit". We need to have passion and perseverance in life no matter what good or for bad comes our way. Grit is having the stamina, staying committed to the goal, and having the perseverance to face the challenges and overcome them one by one, never to give up but to press on and stay calm.
