Please tell us about yourself.
My name is Mohammed Elnour, and I am from Sudan. I graduated in 2006 from Upper Nile University with a BSc from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in South Sudan. Currently, I’m working with the ALIGHT Organisation in East Darfur, Sudan, with more than 10 years' experience in the humanitarian field.
What drew you to the programme you are studying at UniAthena? Do you think it would help you realize your career goals?
I choose to pursue a Master in Public Health since this programme will help me deepen my knowledge and develop my leadership skills. UniAthena is an institution that frees its students to discover their calling in life and find their purpose while contributing to solving the world's sustainability concerns and protecting human rights.
What would you like to learn next?
I aspire to be a trusted member of the Public Health community. I will continue my studies for a PhD in public health.
What are your next career steps?
I would like to take my career to the top of the management ladder as a Country or Regional Director.
How has your academic journey prepared you for your career?
I believe a diverse environment and unique contexts are critical to the success of any research programme, especially in public health. The environment in which I studied and practiced health was unique from a socioeconomic and cultural perspective.
Considering all the people you've met in your field, what personal attributes do you believe are essential for success?
Being active, committed, respectful, and ambitious are some personal attributes I believe are essential to success.
Which book would you recommend as a must-read for everyone, and why?
"The Long Walk to Freedom" is a must-read for everyone since this book will tell you how people struggle to get their own freedom.
What is your dream job, and why?
My dream job is to work as a country director, helping people live a healthier life through the strengthening of health systems.
