Considering all the people you've met in your field, what personal attributes do you believe are essential for success?
Commitment and time management are the two most critical personal attributes I believe are essential for success.
Describe a time you stepped outside your comfort zone and demonstrated leadership skills.
I was appointed as the head of PMU and did not receive any training on how to execute procurement processes. My boss advised me that he would assist me in compiling minutes from the procurement committee and writing a recommendation for award to the CEO for approval. I have been relying on my boss for the past three years. I realized that it's not right to rely solely on someone else's ideas. I made the decision to enroll in the Postgraduate Diploma in Procurement Management to harness the domain aptitude required. Currently, I am in a better position to advise the procurement committee and bid evaluation committee to conduct the evaluations in line with the Public Procurement Act. I can now advise my boss to rectify the mistakes we made when it comes to contract management.
Which book would you recommend as a must-read for everyone, and why?
E-Procurement books, because we are moving into the world of requisitioning, ordering, and purchasing goods and services online.
What is your dream job, and why?
My dream job is to step into the role of CEO since I am eager to lead and impart my knowledge to the youth before I retire.
Do you have any message for professionals just starting out in their careers?
Education is the key to the future. Once you are educated, everything will follow in its place, ranging from people to finance.
