Tell us about yourself and what made you choose your program at UniAthena? How do you think it will help you in your future career?
My name is Juvendoff Louis, and I am a procurement professional from Haiti with over three years of progressive experience in procurement, contract management, and supply chain operations. I have worked with international organizations such as the UNFPA, World Vision International, Heineken Haiti, and currently with the Global Health Supply Chain Program (GHSC-PSM). In these roles, I developed expertise in supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, strategic sourcing, and compliance with international procurement standards. I chose the Master in Procurement and Contract Management at UniAthena because it aligns perfectly with my career path and professional goals. Having already completed my bachelor’s degree in business management and professional certifications such as ISCEA’s CSSCP and CSCA, I wanted a structured and globally oriented master’s program that would deepen my theoretical and practical knowledge in procurement and contract management. UniAthena’s flexible and internationally recognized program gives me the opportunity to continue advancing in my career while strengthening my academic foundation. I believe this master’s will help me in my future career by preparing me for senior leadership positions in procurement and supply chain management, particularly in international organizations where advanced academic qualifications are highly valued. It will also enhance my ability to contribute to sustainable supply chain practices, strengthen contract management systems, and drive organizational efficiency and cost savings. Ultimately, this program will support my ambition to grow into a senior procurement director or chief procurement officer role in the future.
What are you most excited to learn or explore next in your studies?
In my career so far, I have seen how well-structured contracts and supplier partnerships can significantly impact cost savings, risk management, and operational efficiency. I want to explore in greater detail how to design contracts that balance compliance, sustainability, and innovation, especially in international and donor-funded projects.
Could you outline your career goals you have in mind for after completing your current academic journey?
After completing my Master’s in Procurement and Contract Management, my primary goal is to advance into senior leadership roles in procurement and supply chain, such as Senior Procurement Manager, Procurement Director, or Chief Procurement Officer. I want to contribute to organizations that operate internationally, particularly in development, humanitarian, and private sector projects, where efficient and transparent procurement systems are critical.
How are you managing your studies along with the work in your personal life?
I manage my studies alongside work and personal life by maintaining a clear schedule and setting priorities. I dedicate specific hours each week to coursework, use productivity tools to stay organized, and apply strong time-management skills. This balance allows me to stay focused at work, advance academically, and still make time for personal commitments.
Share a specific example of a challenging goal you set for yourself and successfully accomplished. What did you learn from this experience?
One challenging goal I set was at Heineken Haiti, where I aimed to renegotiate supplier contracts to improve delivery performance and reduce costs. Through detailed analysis and tough negotiations, I achieved a 10% improvement in delivery timelines and secured better terms. From this experience, I learned that preparation, persistence, and clear communication are key to turning ambitious goals into measurable results
From your experiences so far, what personal qualities do you think are important for achieving success?
From my experience, the most important qualities for success are discipline, adaptability, and perseverance. Discipline helps me stay consistent and organized, adaptability allows me to perform well in changing environments, and perseverance ensures I remain focused even when challenges arise. Combined with good communication and teamwork, these qualities have helped me achieve results in both my career and studies.
Tell us about a time when you stepped outside your comfort zone to take on a leadership role. What was the outcome?
At World Vision International, I was asked to lead procurement operations for the HIV/AIDS project, managing over 50 purchase orders monthly. Although it was outside my comfort zone at the time, I organized workflows, coordinated with suppliers, and ensured 90% accuracy and compliance. The outcome was smoother procurement operations and recognition as one of the “Employees of the Year,” which boosted my confidence in leadership roles.
If you could recommend one book that you believe everyone should read, what would it be and why?
I would recommend The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. It provides practical lessons on leadership, time management, and personal growth. I believe it’s valuable for everyone because it teaches how to align personal and professional goals, build better relationships, and stay disciplined.
What is your dream job and what motivates you about it?
My dream job is to become a Chief Procurement Officer in an international organization. What motivates me is the opportunity to design procurement strategies that not only achieve cost efficiency but also promote transparency, sustainability, and real impact in people’s lives. Leading at that level would allow me to combine my expertise with my passion for driving positive change through supply chain management.
What advice would you offer to professionals who are just starting their careers based on your own experiences?
Be curious, take initiative, and never stop learning. Build strong relationships, embrace challenges, and stay consistent in your work. Reflect on your experiences to grow and improve continuously.
