Please tell us about yourself.

I am Daniel Luate Mikaya Farajala. I'm South Sudanese by nationality and Kakwa by tribe. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration. I am conversant in English, Arabic, and Kiswahili.

What drew you to the programme you are studying at UniAthena? Do you think it would help you realize your career goals?

I have extensive experience in the department of logistics, so it is vital for me to master this area to advance my career.

What would you like to learn next?

I seek to broaden my knowledge of supply chain and logistics as a certified Manager.

What are your next career steps?

My next career move is to become a certified manager.

How has your academic journey prepared you for your career?

Within one year, I have mastered skills and broadened my knowledge of the domain, and I am currently employed as an International Movement Control Specialist.

Tell us about a time you planned and accomplished a challenging goal.

When a demonstration took place at one of our UN bases, the citizens wanted no more UN presence in their area. As a Movement control assistant, we had to plan the evacuation by air; the evacuation of boarded passengers was to be done when the aircraft engines were running. Consequently, in order to complete this task, I was required to quickly mobilize the evacuation, prepare the aircraft loads, document the task, and keep safety precautions in place to ensure the evacuation mission is accomplished.

Considering all the people you've met in your field, what personal attributes do you believe are essential for success?

Humbleness, a professional attitude, the ability to work as a team, inclusiveness, and respect for diversity are some of the key attributes. Higher education and a desire to learn add more value.

Describe a time you stepped outside your comfort zone and demonstrated leadership skills.

Currently, I am working outside my home country, employed as a Movement Control international specialist ( UNV) as a cargo section team leader. I demonstrated my leadership skills by training the junior associates about warehouse keeping, daily load planning for the aircraft. I illustrated how to strategize and accomplish tasks within a specified timeframe.

Which book would you recommend as a must-read for everyone, and why?

I recommend everyone to read the Holy Bible since it is one of the most ancient books on earth, resonates with everyday life, and gives directives for eternity.

What is your dream job, and why?

My dream job is to become a Chief Supply Chain and Logistics Officer or as a Movement Control Officer.

Do you have any message for professionals just starting out in their careers?

One should always stay focused, always take work seriously, and explore avenues to pursue higher education relevant to their field of work.
