Please tell us about yourself and your family.

I work as a Principal Advisor with Queensland Health and live in Brisbane with my wife, - Kiruthika , daughter Agaraa; and son -Aaritelan. I was born and brought up in a town called Namakkal in India. I am basically a chemical engineer from a reputed institute, the National Institute of Technology in India.

What drew you to the programme you are studying at UniAthena? Do you think it would help you realise your career goals?

I was looking for a course that is flexible and, most importantly, affordable. This was the exact reason why I chose UniAthena over other local universities in Australia.

What would you like to learn next? What are your next career steps?

I am very much interested in doing a Doctor of Business Administration. I also want to learn data science / Actuarial science as working with numbers has always been my interest.

What do you think makes a great teacher?

Patience is a key attribute for any profession, and so to me, a few attributes make a great teacher: Patience, knowledgeable in what you teach, open to learning even from students, easily approachable, and influencing a positive mindset in students.

What’s your dream job?

A job that enables me to work and live anywhere in the world and discover new places.

If you face a problem at work, what is the first thing you do?

I will first contemplate on what could have been done to avoid this in the first instance, and then look to find solutions to overcome the problem and then document the lessons learnt.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your life? How did you tackle it?

Persistence helped me to tackle numerous challenges that I faced both personally and professionally. The biggest challenge was to leave a niche job in India and immigrate to Australia. I struggled to adjust to a new country but eventually managed to overcome all obstacles through my perseverance.

If you could only change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

To be calm.

What is the last book you read and the last movie you saw?

I am not interested in reading books. However, I attempted to read books but did not complete them. As far as I remember, the last book I finished reading was on numerology and astrology as it involves numbers which I love to understand and decode. I enjoy watching movies, and the last one I saw was Top Gun Maverick.

Mention one important lesson you have learned in life that made you what you are today.

Everyone is running at a different pace, so don’t get hurt by competing with someone else. It is to remember that you are the only competitor to you. Try to be yourself and achieve what brings happiness to you without harming your inner peace and health.
