My name is Modou Lamin Sanyang, and I am from Gambia, a beautiful country in west Africa known for its vibrant culture, music, and natural beauty. Growing up in the Gambia, I was exposed to a rich literary tradition, and I developed a love for poetry at a young age. I was fascinated by the power of words to convey complex emotions and ideas, and I found solace in writing and reading poetry.

Many students like me are drawn to studying supply chain management and logistics owing to the exciting opportunities and challenges that the field offers. Supply chain management and logistics are critical facets of many industries, and professionals in this field play an integral role in ensuring that goods and services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

With increasing globalization, the logistics of international trade have become increasingly complex. Studying global logistics will help me understand the challenges of international trade and manage them effectively.

My next career step is to take on the role of a Logistics Manager, responsible for overseeing the movement of goods and materials, coordinating transportation, and making sure products are shipped on time.

Excelling in supply chain management calls for a strong foundation in several disciplines, including business, economics, business law, and others. Therefore, a strong academic background in these areas has enabled me to take on supply chain challenges head-on.

One example of a challenging goal that I completed was running a marathon. This requires months of training, dedication, and commitment to a strict regimen.

Strong work ethic, Hard work, Dedication, and a willingness to go above and beyond are some attributes I consider essential for success. Despite this, a strong work ethic can help individuals stay motivated and focused amidst challenges.

This was when I volunteered to lead a team project in a college course. I was initially hesitant to take on this role, as I had never led a team before and was not sure if I had the necessary skills and experience. Yet I led the project to a successful completion.

A key piece of advice for those just starting out is to be open to learning. Starting out in your career can be overwhelming, but remember that everyone starts the same way. Take advantage of opportunities and learn from your colleagues, mentors, and industry experts.
