My name is Germaine Mensah. I am from Cape Coast, which is in Ghana's central area. I'm the oldest of four sons. At the Regional Maritime University in Ghana, I completed my undergraduate studies specializing in Nautical Science in 2009. At Lowestoft College UK, I continued my education to earn my additional competencies. After a brief stint in the marine merchant industry, I have been employed as a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator for seven years. I oversee both offshore and onshore oil and gas processing plants in my current employment for the HSE department of a multinational corporation. 

I also serve as a liaison with national regulatory agencies and enforce HSE rules and procedures for around 350 employees. I assist in making presentations and training personnels. My strongest suit is being a detail-oriented, well-organized team member. I am a skilled communicator, I never miss deadlines, and I have the ability to multitask. My manager constantly mentions how much he values my professionalism and zeal for the job during my performance evaluations. I enjoy watching movies and listening to music when I have free time.

My next career step is to acquire the necessary information and training from the Postgraduate Certificate in  Environment, Health & Safety Management to advance my management career. Achieving the position of HSE manager at my current organization is my aim. I believe that gaining the necessary managerial skills and knowledge from this program would significantly aid in the achievement of this objective.

As part of my preparation for the managerial role I intend to hold, I plan to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management.

I intend to enroll in a program that will help me advance in my profession. I will learn more about the HSE sector to build a firm grasp in my current role.

Yes, my degree in nautical science has laid a solid foundation for my current career in industry.

I planned to launch a "safety moment series". There was not much time left since the project's completion date had passed. As the series began, the project manager opposed it on the grounds that it would waste more time, but eventually,  it turned out to be a successful program.

An enthusiasm for work and an eye for detail are personal qualities necessary for success.

I had to restrain my plant manager from letting some employees stay on during shut-down operations for longer than necessary.

Stephen M.R. Covey's book "The Speed of Trust'' is the one I would highly recommend to everyone. It teaches about how moral leadership can be demonstrated amidst adverse circumstances.

The HSEQ Director position in an aerospace engineering firm is my ideal career, since I believe that the sector pays attention to detail, something I am passionate about.
