Please tell us about yourself and your family.
I am a 26-year-old female who comes from a very large family. I am a cross between two tribes which are very similar in nature. I have 7 brothers, 3 nieces and two nephews. Both my parents are still alive and a big part of my life.
What drew you to the programme you are studying at Athena? Do you think it would help you realise your career goals?
As someone that has worked in NGO’s almost all her life, the sustainability aspect and all around content contained in the MBA would heighten my knowledge of the industry as a whole.
What would you like to learn next? What are your next career steps?
The biggest thing I would like to learn about next is programme management, as I have worked for NGOs my whole life, which would give me all-around skills pertaining to the industry.
What do you enjoy doing in your leisure time?
Reading, I absolutely love reading as it broadens your horizons in various aspects.
Suppose you had to live alone on a deserted island for a month. What are the 3 things you would bring with you?
If you face a problem at work, what is the first thing you do?
Step back and evaluate the problem. Would I be able to handle this on my own or would I require help? After evaluating the problem, I would enlist help if necessary or approach the problem with a clear head.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your life? How did you tackle it?
The biggest challenge I faced was studying full time while also working full time. It was very difficult to find a balance where neither my studies nor my work suffered. Time management was the biggest thing that helped me succeed. I had a planned schedule that I stuck to faithfully or I would rework my schedule to fit the circumstances.
If you could only change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
To overcome my fear of public speaking and be more comfortable in public situations.
What did you want to become when you were a child?
A teacher, because that was the profession, we were most exposed to at that age.
What is the last book you read and the last movie you saw?
Book-Half of a Yellow Sun-Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Movie- Don’t look Up
Who is the person you admire most and why?
My dad, he had no formal schooling but never gave up in terms of his dreams. He has taught himself to speak, read and write four different languages and always encouraged me to do my best in whatever I am pursuing.
