Tell us about yourself and what made you choose your program at UniAthena? How do you think it will help you in your future career?
I am Papa Amadou Mbodji, a specialist in Administration, Procurement, Human Resources, and Finance with over 20 years of working experience. I chose to pursue my MBA at UniAthena to enhance my skills and knowledge in these areas, which are crucial for my role as the Head of Administration at the Islamic Development Bank Senegal. I hope that this program will help me stay updated with the latest industry practices and improve my ability to manage and streamline administrative processes effectively.
What are you most excited to learn or explore next in your studies?
I am most excited to explore advanced Strategic Management from a global perspective in relation to human resources, marketing, project management, etc. These areas are vital for my goal of ensuring efficient operations delivery.
Could you outline your career goals you have in mind for after completing your current academic journey?
After earning my MBA, I am to further improve the administrative processes at my organization, implement innovative solutions for better resource management, and of course, grow in my career.
How are you managing your studies along with the work in your personal life?
I manage my studies along with work by maintaining a good schedule and prioritizing tasks effectively. My ability to work under pressure and my proactive mindset help me balance both aspects.
Share a specific example of a challenging goal you set for yourself and successfully accomplished. What did you learn from this experience?
One challenging goal I set for myself was to enhance the office environment for staff accommodation and visitors after the Decentralization. I coordinated with the Hub Manager, handled corporate procurement demands efficiently and successfully improved the office conditions. This experience taught me the importance of effective communication and collaboration in achieving organizational goals.
From your experiences so far, what personal qualities do you think are important for achieving success?
From my experiences, I believe that personal qualities such as integrity, initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision are crucial for achieving success.
Tell us about a time when you stepped outside your comfort zone to take on a leadership role. What was the outcome?
I stepped outside my comfort zone when I took on the responsibility of supervising day-to-day operations at the Regional Hub Office of Dakar mainly after the joining of new staff. By providing technical and analytical assistance and ensuring compliance with established policies, I successfully streamlined various administrative processes.
If you could recommend one book that you believe everyone should read, what would it be and why?
I would recommend "Leadership et management. " by Harvard Business Review. This book provides valuable insights into personal and professional development, which are essential for achieving success in any field.
What is your dream job and what motivates you about it?
My dream job is to continue advancing in the field of administration and human resources, where I can make a significant impact on organizational efficiency and employee satisfaction. The opportunity to implement innovative solutions and improve processes motivates me.
What advice would you offer to professionals who are just starting their careers based on your own experiences?
Based on my experiences, I would advise professionals to stay proactive, maintain a high level of integrity, and continuously seek opportunities for learning and growth. Building strong professional relationships and being adaptable to change are also key to a successful career.
