Please tell us about yourself, your family and your interests.

My name is Foday Kamara. I am a strong and patriotic Sierra Leonean. I was born and raised in Freetown which is the capital city of our country. I am not only a Muslim, but also someone who is dedicated, honest, loving, caring, supporting even though a very hot tempered dude. I started my life journey on November 17,1991. I am a happily married man to a virtuous wife and we have three beautiful kids. I am currently working at the finance office as a staff member at UNIMTECH.

I was born into a large and extended family consisting of parents, two brothers and three sisters. We all have been very caring and supportive of one another. We have taken our father’s surname which makes us all KAMARAS.

I have many areas of interest and one of them is football. As a committed fan of football, I support both local and international games. I have a strong love and affinity for music and entertainment as a whole. I help in facilitating activities of such nature within our district and the country at large. Above all, I have always loved working, exploring and innovating. Wanting to do or learn more has been my greatest area of interest.

What drew you to the program you are studying at Athena? Is it living up to your expectations?

I was attracted by the efforts the online platform has been making to ensure lives get transformed when acquiring knowledge through UniAthena.

The courses have been more than just expectations. I am glad to get admitted to UniAthena. I will also be one of your alumni who is fully prepared to go and face the world.

What would you like to do after completing this course from Athena?

I will of course go to the field to ensure that I put into practice what I have  acquired at UniAthena. It is said ‘knowledge acquired is best practiced when applied’. I will find a job and ensure I serve as an agent of change.

What do you think makes a great teacher?

A good teacher is someone who is charged with the responsibility of changing lives by disseminating knowledge. A great teacher then is one who is not only a role model, but also serves as an honest, supporting, accommodating and life changing person at work.

What’s your dream job?

My dream job is to be employed as a bank manager at the central level of our country’s national bank.

What is the most courageous thing you have ever done?

The most courageous scene of my life drama was when we had to face a huge embarrassment for going to a neighbour’s event uninvited. I had to use extra zeal to control my confidence which was publicly shamed.

What is your best childhood memory?

My best childhood memory was being taken to a barber shop when an electric machine was used to cut my hair. The experience at first was terrible and ugly, but suddenly changed to something I liked. I fell in love with having my hair cut by a machine and had to tell almost everyone about my experience.

What is your idea of a perfect vacation?

A perfect vacation is free time given for a specific purpose which refreshes the mind and the ability to continue with life. A perfect vacation should reach the expectations of the desired purpose within the shores of leisure time.

Which character would you like to be friends with?

I would like to be friends with Broda Shaggi, Nigerian comedian, actor, songwriter and musician. I always want to be with him to enjoy his funny moments.

Mention one important lesson you have learned in life that made you what you are today.

The thing that has made me what I am today was the day my parents went to bed on an almost empty stomach. We were just kids.I felt responsible and I challenged myself to go far and committed to my dreams and desire.
