Please tell us about yourself and your family
Hi, I’m Adam, I hail from Ras Al Khaimah UAE, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah. My father works as an engineer while my mother is a homemaker.
What drew you to the programme you are studying at UniAthena? Do you think it would help you realise your career goals?
UniAthena’s partnership with other universities brought me in. To be precise , I was actually looking for a degree in blockchain and to my surprise , UniAthena’s PG Diploma in BlockChain Technology was the first of its kind. Getting a PG Diploma in Blockchain would solidify my presence in the tech industry. Although the UAE is currently developing in terms of blockchain and web3 projects. This diploma completion will demonstrate that I possess a considerable background in blockchain, and I am dedicated enough to move forward working with a web3 company.
What would you like to learn next? What are your next career steps?
As of now I'm just planning to break into the blockchain industry, Since I'm from a non IT background, I'm looking forward to completing a PG Diploma in IT or maybe like a MSc in IT. Years down the line , once I receive enough experience , I would go for a business degree.
What do you think makes a great teacher?
A good teacher is one who could explain concepts in layman’s terms and could solve doubts whenever necessary.
What’s your dream job?
I could say that working as a Web3-Marketer is my big goal as of now. Maybe if I am capable of programming in the near future, I would go for a web3 / blockchain developer.
If you face a problem at work, what is the first thing you do?
At first, I would try my level best to solve it as much as possible, if not, I would ask my experienced colleagues on how to do it , if they couldn’t find it , I would then contact my line manager to solve the problem.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your life? How did you tackle it?
There was this one time , during my final year at university , me and my team were working for our senior design project presentation. I at one point did not know certain topics , I tried my level best to understand them, sadly I couldn’t understand them all. The day when we were supposed to present our research on " Designing of library building using green concrete“, after we presented each one of our topics , we had a external assessor to evaluate our presentation, the evaluator as well as our professors asked me certain questions I was unfamiliar with, I somehow managed to answer them partially. Eventually, I was able to complete the presentation with a B grade.
Second one is during my internship days at VFS Global , where I, with the help of my manager, was able to resolve a conflict with a client.
Taking strong decisions without considering others' confirmation, being productive and positive.
What is the last book you read and the last movie you saw?
The last book that I read was "Malgudi days" by RK Narayan and the movie that I watched last time was "Gods of Egypt"
Mention one important lesson you have learned in life that made you what you are today.
Make Memories as much as possible. Be carefree and learn to take the big leap- Many tend to limit themselves because of uncertainty, trying out and failing is something better than not trying at all , keep yourself updated with whatever resources you have, At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter in which field you actually work or what background you have. It's all about how good you are at self-development and how committed you are in terms of improving yourself and in sharing knowledge to others.
