The rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has sparked a global debate: Will Artificial Intelligence be able to augment or replace Human Intelligence in the future? With the advancement of AI in various aspects of our lives including self-driving cars and virtual assistants, there is a need to distinguish between Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence to forecast their future.
In its most basic sense, the main distinction between the two is that human beings can adapt and be creative. Artificial Intelligence is also very capable of evaluating data but it works and learns through data training and patterns. On the other hand, Human Intelligence is best suited for work that needs the ability to recognize emotions, come up with unique solutions, and make decisions.
For instance, an AI system is capable of processing mathematical problems and arriving at solutions within a short period, but it cannot create a fiction that can touch the emotions of individuals as a human being can.
The benefits of Artificial Intelligence are that it can process vast amounts of data in a short time, eliminate time-consuming tasks, and cut down the mistake rate. For example in the healthcare sector, the algorithms can analyze medical images in a shorter time than doctors, thus enhancing diagnostics.
There are varying classifications of Artificial Intelligence ranging from general AI to Artificial Superintelligence. The possibilities of Artificial Intelligence in the future are seen as positive, especially in such fields as Finance, Education, and Transport.
While AI has incredible benefits, the question remains: Is it possible to compare AI with human capabilities? So far, it is clear that AI is capable of imitating but cannot replace humanity’s reasoning, emotional intelligence, originality, and ethical sense. For instance, AI can solve questions of a technical nature, but only humans can argue about the ethical aspects or come up with solutions based on empathy.
Therefore, we move to the final question, which one is superior, AI or Human Intelligence? The answer is complicated, but the reality is that it is not about the one replacing the other. We can expect a future where they will most probably work together to form a strong alliance. AI will do all those activities which involve going through databases and huge data, whereas human beings will be in charge of decision-making aspects that involve creativity and ethical issues.
Artificial Intelligence is a field with unprecedented promise and potential. Instead of regarding Artificial Intelligence as a threat or the enemy within the workplace, it’s important to recognize its potential as a tool that can expand human potential.
We fear what we do not understand, so it is important to explore AI in an educational setting.
