My name is Samwel Onyango Ooko, based in Nairobi, Kenya, and I am a dedicated UniAthena student on a purposeful journey toward becoming a professional Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer. My decision to study with UniAthena was driven by a desire to access flexible, high‑quality education that aligns with real industry needs.  Through this platform, I have built a strong academic foundation in safety and sustainability, completing programs in Sustainability Essentials, a Diploma in Environment Health and Safety Management, and Executive Diplomas in both Industrial Safety Engineering and Sustainability & Business. 

Currently, I am advancing my knowledge through the MBA Essentials program with a focus on Environment Health and Safety Management, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in the same field.

I truly appreciate the knowledge and skills I have gained, which I consider a solid foundation built through hard work and commitment. These programs have become the cornerstone of my journey in the HSE field, and I am sincerely grateful to UniAthena for providing such valuable learning opportunities.

Looking ahead, I am highly motivated to pursue the Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainability, Environment Health, and Safety Management offered by UniAthena. While I am pacing this goal due to financial considerations, I remain fully committed to achieving it in the near future. I view this not as a limitation, but as part of my journey — one that continues to strengthen my determination, discipline, and long‑term vision for growth in the HSE profession.  What excites me most about my studies is the opportunity to gain practical skills in risk assessment, hazard identification, and safety management systems. I am passionate about applying this knowledge in real‑world environments, particularly in high‑risk industries where safety plays a critical role in protecting lives.

My career goal is to become an HSE professional who contributes to building safer workplaces and promoting a strong safety culture. I aspire to work in organizations where I can make a meaningful impact by reducing risks, ensuring compliance, and improving overall operational safety.

From my experience, qualities such as dedication, adaptability, and a strong work ethic are essential for success. In the HSE field, attention to detail and accountability are especially critical, as they directly impact the safety and well‑being of others. I am sincerely grateful to UniAthena for providing a platform that supports my development and ambitions.
