My interest in Volunteering

Everybody has an interest in certain things, and each interest varies from person to person.

My main interest is volunteering, and I usually spend my weekends engaged in it.
Volunteering is a way of helping others. It means devoting time and skills to support someone who may be in need. Not only does volunteering benefit others, but it can also be rewarding for the volunteers themselves. It is a great way to interact with people in the community and to create bonds while doing good without expecting anything in return. The effects of volunteering range widely-from assisting those in need, giving back to the community, and working for meaningful causes, to supporting someone’s health both mentally and physically.

While volunteering, you become close to the people you are helping. It is also a great way to meet new people and gain lifelong friends. Volunteering not only helps create new bonds but also strengthens existing ones. It makes volunteers more social and engaged, which naturally leads to stronger connections.

People who volunteer can build better relationships, deeper attachments, and closer connections when they work together. If someone wants to connect with others on a different level, volunteering is a great way to do so. Meeting new people through volunteering allows you to forge friendships while contributing positively to your community. Developing new friendships has a very positive effect on people’s lives, and becoming friends with new people is truly wonderful.

I began volunteering in Singapore in 2015 and have had amazing experiences since then. I gained new friends, learned a great deal, and came to know more about the local people and the community. I have volunteered in different fields such as sports (Singapore Sports, Rugby, Singapore Athletics Association, Singapore Swimming Association) and non-profit organizations (Red Cross Singapore, Waterway Watch Society, Singapore Breast Cancer, Singapore Cancer Society, among others).

Community involvement is best achieved by engaging directly with locals. Volunteering teaches you many aspects of helping others and broadens your perspective on people and how to interact with them. My volunteering journey is still ongoing, and I feel I am spending my time productively instead of sitting idle at home. I encourage people everywhere to start volunteering, to help and teach one another, and to share in the experience.

Overall, my journey has been incredible. Without volunteering, I believe I would have missed out on something truly significant. While I gave back to the community, I received even more in return. I would recommend everyone to get involved in their community, you never know where it will take you.
