My interest in Volunteering

Everybody has an interest in certain things and each and every interest varies from person to person.

My interest is mainly Volunteering, and usually, I spend my weekends volunteering.

Volunteering is a way of helping others. It is devoting time and the ability to help someone who may be in need of it. Not only does volunteering help others, but what many may not know is that it can be helpful to the volunteers themselves. It is a great way for anyone to interact with others in their community. It creates bonds when you are doing the greater good for others without expecting anything from them. The effects of volunteering can range from many helpful characteristics….. from assisting those in need, giving back to the community, working for worthwhile causes, and overall helping someone with their health, mentally and physically.

While volunteering, you become close to the ones for whom you are volunteering. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and gain more friends for life. Not only can someone create new bonds when they volunteer, but they can also make the bonds they already have with somebody stronger. "Volunteering creates stronger bonds between friends, family, and coworkers." It gets the volunteer out there and makes them more social. Being more social and civil with others leads a volunteer to create new bonds and friendships.

People who volunteer can build better connections, more powerful attachments, and closer relationships with people when they work together. If someone feels they need to connect to people on a different level, they could try volunteering together. Many different causes can affect how friendships are developed. Meeting new people through volunteering makes you forge new friendships while you are doing good for your community. Developing new friendships causes a very positive effect on people's lives. Meeting new people and becoming good friends is a wonderful thing.

Similarly, I started volunteering in Singapore in 2015 and have had amazing experiences during my volunteering services. I gained new friends, learned a great deal, and got to know a lot about the local people and the community. I have been volunteering for different fields like Sports e.g., Singapore Sports, Rugby, Singapore Athletics Association, Singapore Swimming Association, Non-Profit Organizations – e.g., Red Cross Singapore, Waterway Watch Society, Singapore Breast Cancer, Singapore Cancer Society and others.

Community involvement can never get better than getting involved with locals within the community. Volunteering teaches you all aspects of helping others and it also improves your thinking towards people and how to deal with different people in your own way. My volunteering is still ongoing and I feel that I am spending my precious time doing some productive work instead of sitting idle at home alone. I encourage each and every people around the world to start volunteering and help each other and teach each other and so on…

Overall, my experience so far has been incredible. I believe that without this volunteering experience, I may have missed out on something huge. Yes, though I did give back to the community, it just gave more unto me. I would recommend going out there in your community and getting involved. You never know where it will take you.
