MBA in Energy Management Batch 2024

Please tell us about yourself.

As a professional in the renewable energy industry with proven skills in field operations, I have been curious enough to know more about industry stakes as well as decisions impacting energy transition and examining energy markets.

What drew you to the programme you are studying at UniAthena? Do you think it would help you realize your career goals?

After a thorough search on the internet for a flexible energy management course, I decided to choose UniAthena as it was the most affordable learning platform supported by industry-relevant courseware.

What would you like to learn next?

At the moment, I'm eager to apply the skills I've gained from my MBA in Energy Management to real-world scenarios."

What are your next career steps?

My next career step is to specialize in field operations as well as management, which piques my interest.

How has your academic journey prepared you for your career?

My academic journey has evolved me significantly, and now I'm focused on preparing for the next stage."

Tell us about a time you planned and accomplished a challenging goal.

The most challenging goal I planned and achieved was installing and commissioning energy on 50 telecom sites within 14 days in Burkina Faso. At the beginning of my tenure, I had to execute processes, deploy resources, train teams, and complete all jobs simultaneously. I would say I managed every aspect of the project for the first ten sites in addition to training the teams to execute the next 40 project sites, and all of this was accomplished within 18 days.

Considering all the people you've met in your field, what personal attributes do you believe are essential for success?

I would say that, in general and precisely in the energy sector in which I operate, leadership and informed decision-making are critical attributes for success.

Describe a time you stepped outside your comfort zone and demonstrated leadership skills.

My first job led to my resignation because of a disagreement with the hierarchy over execution processes in the field operations division. The decisions made by the senior management were not feasible, and I ended up becoming an independent subcontractor to implement the decisions I believed were appropriate.

What is your dream job, and why?

I would like to take on the role of an Energy Management Consultant. It's not uncommon for projects to fail owing to improper decision-making by stakeholders who lack a well-balanced combination of engineering acumen, operations, and management knowledge. I believe I can contribute significantly to driving strategic initiatives.

Do you have any messages for professionals just starting out in their careers? For starting professionals?

I believe they need to be passionate about their professions. I would suggest that they focus on their strengths, identify loopholes in the processes, and improve them with a proactive approach.
