Please tell us about yourself and your family.

My name is Evans Hamweene. I was born into a family of 11 with only 7 surviving, and my parents have passed away. I completed my secondary education at St. Canisius and went on to study for an Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair. In addition, I hold a diploma in Purchasing & Supply Management, and supply management and, subsequently, a degree in business administration. I'm currently working for a Mining organization in the maintenance department as a Coordinator. My work schedule is quite rigorous, working 12 hours a day except for Saturdays and Sundays. I'm married with 4 kids whom I stay with and take care of as well as other extended family members.

What drew you to the programme you are studying at UniAthena? Do you think it would help you realize your career goals?

Over the past 15 years, I have worked in the core engineering field. In conjunction with this experience, this Master Degree proved to be an added advantage to my career path, especially earning it from UniAthena, a globally recognized institution. This will definitely help me climb up the management ranks and contribute to the success and sustainability of the organization.

What would you like to learn next? What are your next career steps?

I would like to learn what it takes to be a competent general manager adept at financial management, safety and environmental management, human capital management, and other related domains. My next career step is to develop a strong leadership personality, become an effective listener, be receptive to criticism, and be practical.

What do you think makes a great teacher?

I believe the most essential attributes that make a teacher proficient are communication skills, collaborativeness, empathy, and patience to guide students.

What’s your dream job?

My dream role is to be part of a top management team dedicated to achieving organizational goals.

If you face a problem at work, what is the first thing you do?

In order to solve a problem at work, I seek guidance from team members and encourage their active involvement.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your life? How did you tackle it?

The most significant challenge I encountered was caring for my unwell mother and shouldering the financial responsibilities of her medical care until the time she left us.

If you could only change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I believe that my ability to curb my temper and build patience are key areas I strive to change.

What was the last book you read and the last movie you saw?

I'm not a big movie fan, yet the last book I read was Corporate Finance.

Mention one important lesson you have learned in life that has made you who you are today.

Perseverance, working towards my goal, and listening to success stories are what I found inspiring.
